Leavenworth, WA - Leavenworth Preserve TT park

Leavenworth is only a six night stop for us and today is the last day of our stay. We have had an interesting time of it; no casino within driving distance to lure us into it's bowels, no Chamber of Commerce sponsored events being held enticing us to set up a booth to sell our jewelry and the closest Wall mart is forty miles away! The attraction here is the town itself and so we did take a day to explore the town which was created in the image of Bavarian community. The Town has lots of gift shops, hotels and restaurants; we walked the flower lined streets for over an hour and never did see the entire downtown district. We had lunch/dinner at a little pizza parlor that looked like a Bavarian chalet. The pizza was pricey but delicious. While were were in town, we also paid a visit to the library hoping to find some National Geographic magazines for sale...we are always in need of those beautiful magazines from which we make some of our "rolled paper" earrings.
Our neighbors were very chatty and most helpful in suggesting places we might try to sell our jewelry. They actually have a home in Wenatchee, which is only about forty miles away, so they were well acquainted with the area. They suggested we try our luck in securing a spot at a local flea market that was being held over labor day weekend. We followed their suggestion and drove there with high hopes of taking advantage of the holiday sales. However, we were disappointed to find there were only a few booths set up. With no visable traffic to speak of setting up didn't seem worth our while. We were glad we came though, the flea market was in a park like setting with lots of flowers in hanging pots everywhere and vegetable gardens laid out in meticulously weeded rows. There were quite a few pieces of antique farming equipment on display as well. Their was even a replica of a coal mine with a coal mining wagon. Great photo op for Bill...click on his picture above. We did check out what the vendors were selling which included coffee cakes, vintage jewelry and Indian type clothing.
