Monroe, WA - Thunderbird TTpark

We are still in the state of Washington but further north in the quaint little town of Monroe. Our TT park, Thunderbird, is conveniently located about six miles from town. The picture top left was taken in front of our rig. I am glad Bill didn't miss that photo op! We arrived here on a Wednesday afternoon, set up the rig and headed for Kingston, WA. The attraction was a casino about an hour's drive from our park. The trip also included a fifteen minute ferry boat ride and we were in line with about fifty other cars with a twenty minute wait to get on the ferry. The perk for this casino included reimbursement for the $30 ferry fee; all we had to do was gamble for one hour each. The hour passed quickly and we had a great prime rib buffet, taking advantage or our seniors discount, before we headed home with our $14 winnings!

Saturday morning we were up early and headed for a nearby swap meet to try our luck at selling Bill's handmade beaded bracelets and earrings and my beaded pins. This was the last day of the swap meet for the summer and there were very few potential buyers milling around. The vendors next to us were selling homemade cat scratching posts, catnip toys and cat beds. They told us, unthusiastically, that they did not have great sales expectations. Most people in the area, they felt, considered cats barn animals not house pets. They may have been right, or was it something in their defeatist attitude that jinxed them? They only sold one cat toy all day! We were a little more fortunate and at least sold enough jewelry to cover our entrance fee.
