We are finally back on track! Sister Jill is out of the hospital. Her children are taking very good care of her as she recovers from her back surgery at home. We attended to her trio of dogs and spoiled them to death during her hospitalization. We left her home in Norcross, GA early Wednesday morning and headed to Camping World in Woodstock, GA to retrieve our RV which they had winterized and stored for us. They also remounted our spare tire which we had managed to scrape off from the bottom of the RV during our trip to visit Lake Guntersville State Park. The grand plan was for us to spend some time in Montgomery, AL and then ease over to Meridian, MS where Bill had received his training to fly jets. We realized that we had absolutely no desire to continue suffering the effects of the brutally cold weather as we traveled down the highway.

Technology is great! Marcia pulled out her trusty laptop computer as we cruised down the interstate and began studying RV parks which were much further South. We made the decision to travel twice as far as we had intended in order to give our rusty bones a chance to thaw out. We wound up a few feet off of Mobile Bay at Meaher State Park in Spanish Fort, AL. Our windows offer a beautiful view of the bay and the city of Mobile.

We were unaware that Mobile, not New Orleans, is the birthplace of Mardi Gras. The festivities start next week with daily events and parades. Our original intention was to head South West next Wednesday, but who knows? We will pick up a copy of this Sunday’s newspaper in order to determine if we want to hang around a bit longer to witness the insanity. What a wonderful way to live! Today’s project will probably be to travel over to a state park in Mississippi which is about 50 miles away in order to determine if we want to make that our next stop. We also want to take a 45 minute ferry ride over to Dauphin Island over the weekend to do some exploring and hopefully to get to take a walk on the beach. We toured the local area yesterday and wound up walking along a very long pier at a marina.

The vast eternal plan, which is subject to change at any second, is to spend some time in Mississippi and then go over to New Orleans for a week or two before we head down to Texas. We are truly blessed! Stay tuned for our next episode.
