We went to a buffet breakfast this morning at the lodge which is located within the state park. The selection was limited, but everything was hot and delicious. They offered french toast, fried apples, sausage gravy, biscuits, scrambled eggs, sausage, crisp bacon, grits, juice, and super delicious coffee. Marcia was able to grill the staff to gain information for the on-line Food & Beverage course she will begin teaching next month. The lodge has just been remodeled, and the place is nothing short of spectacular. The place is located on top of a mountain, and we ate at a table which afforded a panoramic view of Lake Guntersville. People pay huge amounts of money to stay at lodges similar to this one, but it is all very affordable within this park. We can't wait to go back for Christmas dinner.
We had to fight off the deer on our way to the lodge and on the way back. We still haven't seen a buck, but we hear plenty of gun shots in the mornings which may explain their absence. Our RV site overlooks the lake, and the huge bird shown above is one of our most recent visitors.
