We boarded a Northwest/Delta Airlines Jet (operated by Rinky-Dink Airlines) last Saturday and headed off to Massachusetts to visit Great Grandpa John. We were forced to sit on the tarmac for over an hour while the maintenance folks replaced one of those mysterious black boxes. Each passenger was rewarded for their patience with a $5.00 food vouch which we had redeemed without guilt during our grossly shortened layover in Detroit.

We rented a 2009 Chevrolet Camaro in Boston. This thing was amazing. It only sniffed at the gasoline, giving us about 30 mpg during our three day stay. We packed up John and Jake, his dog and confidant, in the car on Sunday and headed off on a 2 1/2 hour trip to visit sister Linda in her new home. She is a talented designer, and it was thrilling to see what she was able to do with the place. We went to a Chinese buffet Monday afternoon to see who could stuff the most food down their throat. The food was delicious, but we paid the price for our gluttony later in the evening.
We were very fortunate to experience the phenomenon of delightfully mild temperatures during our visit, and we were happy to get out of there before the place froze over for the winter. It was great to be able to bond with everyone again. In short, the trip was fantastic!
