Kamiah, ID - Lewis & Clark RPI park

We finally left the state of Washington on Tuesday, September 14th after spending over a month there. The road trip to our new park in Kamiah, ID took us along the Lewis and Clark trail which runs along the Clearwater river and through the mountains. The park is a real treat because it has an exercise room, hot tub and swimming pool. Unfortunately the park is very run down and in need of an infusion of cash along with a huge dose of TLC! Rehabbing this park would be a project I would love to get my teeth into. It brings back fond memories of all the old houses I rehabbed while working my way through college and the interesting hotels and RV/manufactured home parks I managed during my career in hospitality.

During our stay in Kamiah we learned there was a county fair being held in the nearby community of Orifino. The real attraction for us was the Lumberjack Days events being held on Sunday. So on Sunday morning we headed to the fair in spite of the fact that it had just started to rain. We walked through the fairgrounds under our umbrellas, carefully avoiding the funnel cake booth, and visited the tent where all the winning items in the food, produce and home economics contests were on display. The Lumberjack Days were scheduled to commence at 10:00 AM and we were pleased that the rain stopped just as the events got underway! We watched the events for about two hours marvelling at the skills and strength required of the contestants in the events like the horizontal chop, the pole speed climbing, the Jack and Jill sawing and the springboard chop. We were really glad we had taken the time to attend.
